MI IPL 2023 Retention: After finishing last in the standings last season, the Mumbai Indians have released up to 13 players ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.
Kieron Pollard, the Caribbean star who has announced his retirement from the IPL but is set to join the squad as batting coach, is one of them.
The team led by Rohit Sharma has acquired Australia’s Jason Behrendorff from the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who will add firepower to an already strong pace-bowling lineup that includes Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer.
The teams have an additional Rs 5 crore to spend in the upcoming auction, which will be held in Kochi on December 23, in addition to the purse from the previous auction and the value of the players each side has released, bringing the total purse tally to Rs 95 crore.
Mumbai has a sizable budget of Rs 20.55 crore. It also has three open international slots that have yet to be filled.
